i knew i wouldn't be able to wait until after the insanity of giving birth to this new baby in my tummy to find out if it's a girl or a boy, so colin and i decided to find out. and we're oh so pleased with the results. well, colin's a little worried about our bankbook since every time we're shopping for clothes for elliott i ooh and ahh over all the adorable things a girl could wear. "we have a boy, katie!" he's reminded me often.
so at first when i thought there was a possibility that i may perhaps possibly be having a girl, and i knew we wanted to find out, i was worried about what would happen when we tell people we're having a girl and what gifts we might possibly end up receiving at our baby shower. obviously pink. pink everything. and flowers. and butterflies. and it's not that i dislike pink and flowers and butterflies, i just think there's better places for these things than plastered all over a newborn girl. but colin and i have always had the philosophy with kids clothes that if it's not something we would be caught wearing, we shouldn't put it on our kids.
therefore, for those who are having a hard time picturing what we would like our little girl to be dressed in, i've found a few examples:
definitely NOT this:

instead, she'd wear this:

and we're not against dresses, unless they look like this:
what we'd prefer for a dress would be this:

isn't that adorable? i love that little black coat.
i'm also very excited that gap kids has come out with dark wash skinny jeans for toddlers, they are adorable, perfect with all the baby-doll tops! no more of these flare-leg pale jeans with frilly cuffs and gardens embroidered all over them.
in conclusion, i'm sorry if i've insulted anyone! everyone has their own tastes and opinions, i'm just cursed with a strong one. and hey, if our little girl decides she wants to wear pink from head to toe and will only play with princess dolls, that's fine too, we'll still love her!
